How the New England Patriots decided QB Drake Maye was their future
Dressed in an off-white suit with a Carolina blue tie, Drake Maye walked into Gillette Stadium for the first time Friday, still wearing a blue Patriots hat from the night before at the 2024 NFL draft in Detroit. Trevyon Green's New Life, from 410 Pounds to UNC's Starting Right Tackle
Trevyon Green has always been big. At one time, he was even too big to play football. "At the time, I really didn’t understand that was an extremely big weight, because all my people told me, ‘You’re big, that’s how you are,’" Green said, referring to when he was in high school. Jacolby Criswell Q&A: Happy to be Back 'Home' at UNC, Ready To Compete
A new challenger has entered UNC's quarterback competition. Former Arkansas quarterback Jacolby Criswell confirmed his commitment to UNC out of the transfer portal on Tuesday — bringing Criswell back to where his college career began. Who will replace the first-round NFL Draft picks?
3. Drake Maye, QB, UNC. Replacement: Max Johnson or Conner Harrell. Through 15 spring practices, North Carolina football coach Mack Brown remains undecided about who will replace Maye. Johnson, who transferred in from Texas A&M, has far more starting and playing experience. But Harrell was in the offense last year as a backup to Maye. (ESPN.com)

UNC quarterback transfer Tad Hudson commits to Coastal Carolina
Former UNC quarterback Tad Hudson has committed to Coastal Carolina out of the NCAA transfer portal, he announced Monday. Hudson did not see any action in his true freshman season for the Tar Heels, and will have four years of eligibility remaining to play for Coastal Carolina. Hudson was a three-star recruit from Hough High School in Cornelius, NC. (On3.com)

RJ Davis, Aranza Vazquez take top honors at Rammys
UNC honored the best athletes and performances of the last year at the annual Rammys on Monday night. The top male and female athletes were no surprise, as All-American guard R.J. Davis and four-time NCAA champion diver Aranza Vazquez took home top honors. Drake Maye’s left-handed touchdown pass at Pittsburgh was named Play of the Year. (Tar Heel Tribune)

Undrafted Tar Heels Sign Deals with NFL Teams
North Carolina had three football players taken in the 2024 NFL Draft. Running back British Brooks, defensive lineman Tomari Fox, edge rusher / outside linebacker Amari Gainer, defensive lineman Myles Murphy and offensive lineman Spencer Rolland of UNC have signed undrafted free-agent contracts with NFL teams and will compete for roster spots. How UNC's Quarterbacks Are Being Graded
Conner Harrell and Max Johnson were mostly throwing passes to young wide receivers during spring practice, complicating the grading process of the Tar Heels' quarterback battle. "We’ve had to be careful not to get mad at a quarterback when the route was wrong and he threw it right, or he had to hold it too long because they messed it up," Brown said. (Tar Heel Illustrated)

Austin Proehl Named Wide Receivers Coach At Wingate University
Austin Proehl, a former standout wide receiver at the University of North Carolina who was drafted into the NFL by the Buffalo Bills, now is climbing the college football coaching ranks. Wingate University is hiring Proehl to Rashaan Jordan's staff. The son of former longtime NFL standout Ricky Proehl, Austin is set to coach wide receivers for the Bulldogs. (Football Scoop)
