How to store your kit (2024)

Tips for storing mushroom grow kits if you're not ready to fruit it straight away.

Ideally you should begin growing your mushroom grow kit as soon as you receive it, but we understand sometimes this isn't possible (eg if you're giving a kit as a gift or going away).

For Pink Oyster grow kits: We recommend starting these kits as soon as you have received it as they do not store well and can't be stored in the fridge.

If you are looking at storing a kit we recommend selecting a White Oyster orLion's Mane kit as these varieties can be stored for a couple of months. Most mushroom kits will store for 3-6 months in the fridge if necessary.

To store your kit, keep it in the fridge. This puts the mycelium into hibernation and will prevent it escaping the box early. Don't keep it somewhere it could exceed 30 degrees Celsius.

Never leave your kit in a hot car or in direct sunlight. The mushroom mycelium is heat sensitive and can die from excessively warm temperatures.
