Cuboid Outpost FAQ - CuboidDroid/cuboidoutpost GitHub Wiki (2024)

There are a few questions and suggestions that keep coming up, so I thought I'd add in a kind of FAQ to answer some of them...

FAQ

Can you add a Quantum Singularity for {insert material here}?

Common requests include the various types of quartz, obsidian, soul sand, and more. The short answer is no - I won't be adding more Quantum Singularities for those materials. I want some materials to require a bit more thought in terms of how to get lots of them through some basic automation - not everything needs to be infinite and free.

Do you know about the "bug" where you can "duplicate" netherite scraps?

Yes. I've kept those recipes on purpose. You really shouldn't be surprised considering how many other resources you can basically get for free in this pack! ;-)

Can you add {insert mod name here} to the pack?

I could, but I probably won't. I am intentionally trying to keep the number of mods small so that more people (particularly those with potato PCs) can play the pack. Every mod added might mean there are more people who cannot play the pack.

There is nothing stopping you from adding some "quality of life" mods to the pack yourself. I would suggest you stick to basic mods that tweak things a bit, rather than ones that will let you skip through the storyline, but it's entirely up to you how you want to play this pack.

Please note that I won't support bugs arising from other mods being added to the pack though - I don't have time to bug-fix every possible combination of mod out there!

Having said that, some mods people have tried and seem happy with include things like:

  • Double Doors - makes double doors / trapdoors / fence gates open and close together.
  • DrawerFPS - hides the contents of storage drawers unless you're near to them, which can improve your FPS in areas with lots of storage drawers

Why haven't you updated {insert mod name here}?

Mods change. This includes things like config and recipe changes, new behaviours, and more. Every time I update a single mod, there is the possibility that the customisations I've made as part of this modpack will stop working, have unintentional exploits added, or break the progression. That means I need to do a whole bunch of testing each time (and potentially bug fixing each time too).

I will update mods every now and then, but it can be a delicate process, and it's not always going to be possible without a lot of additional work. The time I have to spend working on this modpack and mod are limited, so it's also possible that I won't get around to updating a particular mod for quite some time.

How should I report a bug I found?

  • Have a look in the Issues for the pack on this site.
  • Do a few searches to see if you can find whether the bug has already been reported and/or fixed/rejected (this is particularly important to do if you are running on an older version of the pack).
  • If you can't find the bug as being reported already, then create a new issue and choose the "Bug Report" template.
  • Please provide as much information as you can to help me track down the problem.
  • Please report different bugs separately rather than including multiple bugs in one issue.

Where can I make suggestions for enhancements?

  • Have a look in the Issues for the pack on this site.
  • Do a few searches to see if you can find whether the enhancement has already been suggested and/or implemented/rejected (this is particularly important to do if you are running on an older version of the pack).
  • If you can't find the enhancement as being suggested already, then create a new issue, and when asked what kind of issue, choose the "Feature Request" template.

My server keeps starting in a normal world / everyone starts in the same Outpost!

  • There is a README.md file in the root of the ZIP file for the server pack. Please read it!
  • The README.md file contains information about what you need to change in your server.properties file, as well as information on how to get the best from the pack when running on a server.
  • If you have already generated a world and have only changed the server.properties after the fact, you will need to delete the world folder and run the server again / restart the server so that it regenerates the world correctly.
  • Here is the README.md file in case you want to check it now.
